Energy Recovery Devices
Devices that recover hydraulic energy from the high-pressure RO concentrate stream and return it to the feed stream, reducing the net pumping energy of the train.
Engineering Application
On seawater RO trains the concentrate stream leaves at near-feed pressure; transferring that energy back to the feed can reduce specific energy consumption well below the value achievable with throttling or simple motor-driven pumping alone.
