RO Design Studio
Structured preliminary system design and projection workflow for reverse osmosis projects.
Project
Project identity, application, and case notes.
Feed water
Feed flow, quality, temperature, and available chemistry.
Chemistry (optional)
Unknown chemistry is never treated as zero. Missing values are surfaced as missing in the review and results.
Product requirements
User requirements for permeate flow and quality.
The rejection requirement is a user requirement; the effective rejection used in each element comes from the membrane specification and transport data.
RO configuration
Passes, stages, pressure vessels, and elements per vessel.
Stage 1 is required. Leave stage 2 or 3 vessel counts blank or zero to omit those stages. Stage ratios such as 2:1, 3:1, and 4:2 are configuration choices, not universal design rules.
Membrane
User-provided membrane specification and transport coefficients.
No manufacturer database is used and no default A or B values are assumed. Level 3 transport projection is unavailable without A. Replace user-defined values with validated membrane data before design decisions.
Operating conditions
Pressures and recovery basis for the projection.
Feed pressure is optional; when it is not supplied, net driving pressure is presented as a zero-pressure screening case.
Calculation settings
Requested projection level and concentration polarization.
The requested level is downgraded automatically when required inputs are unavailable; the executed level is always reported in the results.
Review inputs
Completeness review of every input group before running the projection.
Run projection
Validate the design case and execute the authoritative projection engine.
Results
System performance, calculation status, explorers, and traceability.
Scenarios
Duplicate the current case, modify scenario inputs independently, execute, and compare.
Design solver
Evaluate candidate vessel/element configurations against configured constraints.
Evaluate candidates to see feasible and infeasible configurations with their constraint checks.
Design summary
Consolidated engineering summary of the executed design case, scenarios, and solver run.
Final RO system design must be verified using validated feed-water analysis, membrane manufacturer performance data, applicable design guidelines, and qualified engineering review. This Design Studio is not a replacement for WAVE, ROSA, or manufacturer projection software.
Engineering Basis
The studio uses explicit water-flow and dissolved-solids balances, a simplified TDS-based osmotic pressure estimate, basic net driving pressure, and custom user-defined membrane coefficients. It does not claim detailed ionic chemistry, concentration polarization, manufacturer-specific correlations, or validated element projection.
