Nanofiltration (NF) Engineering
NF sits between UF and RO: it removes dissolved species while passing much of the low-molecular-weight load. EngiMetric applies exact water and solute conservation to the recovery and rejection you supply, and never assumes either of them for you.
Choose a calculation below. Each one runs an EngiMetric NF engine and reports its own water- and solute-balance validation.
NF water and solute balance
EngiMetric engine
Runs calculateNfBalance. Every value below is calculated by that engine; the
Copilot never supplies engineering values.
Inputs the engine needs, and why
- Feed flow (m³/h) — The balance is driven by the flow entering the NF stage.
- Feed TDS — Solute conservation needs the feed concentration.
- Recovery rate — NF recovery is a supplied design value, not an assumption.
- Salt rejection — NF rejection is membrane-specific and must be supplied; this engine never assumes it.
NF membrane area
EngiMetric engine
Runs calculateNfMembraneArea. Every value below is calculated by that engine; the
Copilot never supplies engineering values.
Inputs the engine needs, and why
- Feed flow (m³/h) — NF area is sized from the permeate flow the stage must produce.
- Design permeate flux — Membrane area is only defined against a flux basis, so the design flux must be supplied.
