Small & Modular Desalination Sizing
Most small plants are sized from the demand they must serve, not from a product flow somebody already knows. This surface takes a community basis — or a direct product flow — and sizes forward through the platform’s existing engines: the demand engine, the plant mass balance, and the RO array engine. It is a sizing path, not a selection. No recovery, staging ratio, flux or package envelope is chosen here; each is yours, and every figure shown is what the named engine derived from the basis you stated.
Want to see a complete chain instead of a single sizing path? The Demo Gallery lists working treatment-train cases — seawater, brackish and UF-prologue trains — each of which opens in the Plant Designer as a real, editable design.
Basis
Supply either a community demand basis or a direct product flow. Optional fields narrow the picture; nothing is inferred from an absent value, and no field is defaulted to a plausible number.
Method and engine sources
- Demand —
waterResources.calculateWaterDemand: population × per-capita demand, peak factor, and fire storage when a fire flow is supplied. - Feed and concentrate —
plantMassBalance.analyzePlantMassBalance. The salt balance that turns a product flow into a feed flow lives there, so it is not restated here. - Membrane area, vessels, staging —
water/ro/array.buildRoArray. When the first-stage vessel count is omitted, vessels are spread evenly and the result is labelledevenrather thanengineered. - Package scope —
desalination/modularPackage.buildModularPackageScope. A modular package changes how the plant is delivered, not how it treats water. - No formula is duplicated on this page. If a step’s engine cannot run, the chain stops there and says which input is missing.
